Reconditioned steel drums, both Tight Head and Open Top types, of unparalleled quality are supplied by Balmer Lawrie (UAE). The company has an excellent production facility to recondition old drums at its Al Quoz plant in Dubai. The plant is also equipped with a full fledged effluent treatment facility for dealing with the hazardous effluents generated during the reconditioning process. This offers a unique opportunity to trade and industry to opt for lower packaging costs whenever the quality of the product permits the use of reconditioned drums. Economically priced, the reconditioned drums help in making the product more cost-effective. Reconditioned drums are internally washed and cleaned to industry standards and inspected; externally, they are shot-blasted to remove the original paint and labels, and painted with a minimum 20 microns thickness of a high quality, specially formulated stoving paint. Optionally the drums can be Screen Printed on the body and/or on the top with company logo/product details. While the quality of reconditioned drums cannot match that of the new drums as far as the internal cleanliness and external profile are concerned, these are still of very good quality and are regularly used by lubricant and chemical industry to service their cost-conscious customers.

Balmer Lawrie (UAE) manufactures steel drums according to international standards such as ISO 15750:2002, BS 814-1:1987, BS 2003:1987, EN 209:2000, EN 210:1986, ANSI MH2-1997 etc. and these drums carry the UN Certification for packaging of dangerous goods. The company’s drums conform to the highest safety guidelines, and are certified for sea and road transportation of hazardous chemicals. The drums are of Tight Head and Open Top designs. Balmer Lawrie has 14 different drum types that have been approved with UN markings and depending on the product to be filled, a suitable drum could be chosen. The thickness of steel in these drums ranges from 0.70 mm to 1.20 mm. The drums are with seven fold triple seam. They are also with a “W” design rolling hoops (or beads) which permits optimum stuffing of drums in shipping containers. Drums can be supplied either with corrugations on the body which improve the resistance to denting, or without corrugations. In the Tight Head drums the tops are with a special “Optimal Drainability” design. The drums are fitted with high quality closures. Optionally for the Tight Head drums tabseals (capseals), which are generally lithographed to customer’s logo / design can be supplied. Externally the drums are painted with high quality, specially formulated stoving paint with a minimum 20 microns thickness. Optionally the drums can be Screen Printed on the body or on the top with company logo and / or product details. Internally the drums can be supplied with either a primer paint coat, or a single or double coat of a very high quality Epoxy Phenolic Lacquer Lining.

Balmer Lawrie (UAE) manufactures a variety of General Line Tinplate containers for the Lubricants,  Greases,  Edible Oil,  Ghee,  Paints, Thinners,  Chemicals,  Tea and Powdered Food Products, etc. These containers in different shapes and sizes are manufactured from Prime Tinplate directly bought from reputed Mills. The range of containers includes: Round Cans in diameters from 65 mm to 228 mm, either Open Top type for seaming one end after filling, or with different types of closures such as simple Rings and Lids,   or  Double Tight Rings and Lids,   or  Rings, Lids and Aluminium Foil,   or  Metal Screw Necks and Caps  or  Plastics Pull-up Spouts. These cans are typically used for Lubricants, Greases, Edible Oil, Ghee, Paints, Chemicals, Tea and Powdered Food Products, etc.

While most of the Printed Tinplate Sheets and Can Components are for in-house use for fabricating cans, Balmer Lawrie (UAE) can and does supply them to those customers who have their own can making facilities. Only Prime quality tinplate from reputed, approved tinplate mills is used. Balmer Lawrie (UAE) has excellent coating and printing facilities for metal decoration on the sheets. Best quality lacquers, coatings, inks and varnishes are used coupled with extensive tests and on-line inspection during and after decoration. Balmer Lawrie (UAE) has a very well equipped Press Shop where the various types and sizes of can components are manufactured and assembled using very high quality dies and tools on modern equipment. Components undergo inspection and testing at all stages of manufacture. The Printed Sheets are supplied, well packed in skids and Can components packed either in cartons or large metal bins.
