Building Code Requirements for Masonry Construction require longer lap lengths in some places. Thiscan be done by overlapping two steel bars and then tying the lapped portion together, but this meansmore congestion in masonry cells and more difficult construction. The most effective way to alleviatethis problem is to use mechanical rebar couplers which join two steel bars by the use of Couplers, thereby eliminating the lap. Reinforcing bar coupling has all the features desirable in a rebar joiningsystem, combined with unequalled simplicity of installation.
