Pieced & Quilted by: 'Quilted Squid', California Design Source: patchwork pattern is Metro Hoops by Sew Kind of Wonderful A beautiful job was done of this quilt - with the textures in the quilting really giving it life. There is little more one can say, just well done in California! NB - the quilting pattern in the DWR area was not that which is listed below - but is very similar to it. Judy was my tester for the first of these designs - and I cannot thank her enough for her feedback and patience while I tweaked them. I am thrilled with how it turned out. The biggest question for Judy was whether or not to put these two designs together. The very feather one with all its gentler curves and softness alongside the modern one, with its sharp points. But they work well, and probably more so as they both have the hatching in their centres. Do click on the picture to get a more closeup view - because it is there that the sashing can better be seen. This is one as per Judy's request - so thank you Judy. These are 3 of the patterns which are included in Sharon's set of Metro Medallion Patterns. Quilting Patterns Used a design with a very modern feel to it.: Metro M pea flower (2) a more traditional design: Metro M feather (2) sashes: Metro M 1 sash j p2p
These designs are digitised versions of the quilting on Sew Kind of Wonderful's original quilt. In January 2016 they kindly gave me persmission to do this Design Features p2psu options are provided for those machines which can utilize this feature. The main photo is Helen's free-motion quilted Metro Rings. The set of patterns are those I have digitised (with her permission) so that those who have computerised machines can achieve very similar results. They are a lovely mix of straight lines, curved lines and 'bumps' - all adding texture to an already striking top. Design Features Statler Stitcher users: for the main design, use the p2psu version and place it quickly and accurately with the p2p function. Click where the red * are in the diagram to the left. Do an audition first - to decide if the clicks are going to be exactly on the intersection, to the left or to the right. There will not be any need to do more reference boundaries - the design will automatically resize and rotate as you go. Other machines: I have included a regular block, which you would place as usual. The half and quarter patterns are ones which go on the edge of the quilt. They are p2p patterns and their registration points are at the usual .25 inch in from the edge. However, they all have some stitching lines which go out .125 inch into the edge seam allowance. These are (hidden, once bound) travel lines to allow the design to stitch continuously. If you do not want them there, you could divide them out - but I prefer to have the machine keep going if I can!
