STAINLESS STEEL With an increase in demand by 5% per annum, and over 20 million tones of consumption annually Stainless steel is one the most consumed metal. Stainless steel in essence are iron alloys with a coating of Chromium (10.5% min). The main reason for the large consumptions of this metal is its corrosion resistance and its application in modern industries. Chromium produces a thin layer of oxide on the metal to prevent corrosion, increase in chromium level increase the corrosion resistance. There are different types of SS, the most common being Austenitic grade of SS and is the largest type of SS available today, due to its resistance and formidability. Austenitic are cold treated to improve their Strength and stress resistance. Teflon is a highly used plastic in industries around the world today. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is registered as Teflon, this is a part of a class of plastics know as Fluoropolymers.
