VARIOKIT Cantilevered Parapet Systems

  • Width 1.84 m
  • Height 50/80 cm
Just as different as the methods of bridge construction are the requirements regarding the production of cantilevered parapets. Many circumstances influence the choice of the formwork systems for an optimal construction process.

Catered to the requirements of the jobsite and the structure, the VARIOKIT engineering construction kit offers the right and structurally optimal solution in the form of:

Individual brackets with formwork unit, suspended at the lower side of the cantilever
A launched traveler with formwork unit moving on the lower side of the cantilever
A carriage moving on the bridge with formwork suspended from a gallows constructionHere, a carriage travels on the completed superstructure and features 5.50 m long formwork sections in standard cases. Several carriages are coupled together in order to achieve the required length of the concreting section.

The carriages move by means of heavy-duty rollers on the U-profiles positioned on the bridge.

The loads are carried on a gallows construction and ballast. As a result, no anchors are needed in the superstructure.

Technical details

Standard deployment is with 4 carriages of 5.50 m each
With this configuration, parapets can be realized up to a height of wh = 5080 cm. For this, the ballast is merely modified for the respective loads.
Larger parapets can be realized thanks to the VARIOKIT modular construction kit as well as by simply changing the geometry on the carriage. For shorter bridges that do not justify the effort of mounting a carriage or a track, the cantilever parapet bracket represents an efficient and economic formwork solution. Thanks to the separation of working platform and formwork unit, the VGK cantilever parapet bracket is optimally catered to the requirements of bridge refurbishment.

The brackets are attached to the lower side of the cantilever and further in the process are supplemented with planks to form closed platforms. After this, the formwork can be safely and comfortably assembled and aligned even after the possible demolishing of the old cantilevered parapet.

For the construction of new bridges, the PERI M24 anchor sleeve is already mounted in during the concreting of the bridge for the anchoring of the brackets. For bridge refurbishment, subsequent anchoring systems can be used.

VARIOKIT Composite Bridge System

In this process, the falsework is moved to a new concreting position along with the formwork. Contrary to the cantilever launching method (compare page 24 ff), the concreted component remains in its position. Depending on the shape of the structure, an upper or a lower mobile support is used.

The advantages of the upper system are high capacity on curves and free selection of the bridge cross-section. Moreover, the railway loading gauge under the new structure is not affected normally.

The variant with the lower mobile support is advantageous due to lower cost implications. Furthermore, pre-assembled reinforcing elements can be brought in with the crane (time advantage) and suspensions through the structure are not required.

Formwork Technology

As a rule, bridge structures that are constructed with the help of mobile falseworks are designed as box girder cross-sections. In exceptional cases, even T-beam cross-sections are used.

In the case of mobile falseworks, the formwork is constructed from standard components of the girder wall formwork. Steel beams with special connections and joints are mainly used for mobile support.

While planning, it must be ensured that the formwork and scaffolding systems are well coordinated since there is a close interaction between both systems. The basis of the formwork carriage consists of a longitudinal truss, comprised of the main beams from the HD 200 system. The length can, therefore, be adjusted modularly.

The lateral formwork unit is assembled completely from VARIOKIT material, through which an ideal adaptation to the dimensions of the structure is possible.

Due to the VARIOKIT system, the area of influence of the lateral formwork unit can be freely selected. As a result, the material can be utilised to full capacity, which results in very cost-effective solutions.

The wagon is moved on heavy-duty rollers that are attached to chairs on the steel structure. As the heavy-duty rollers are steerable, they can also be passed through narrow radii without any problems.Using standard VARIOKIT material, the brackets can be assembled according to the geometry of the structure.

The expansion of the VARIOKIT modular system produces rentable solutions for a wide range of applications. As a result, the anchors can be installed either from below or above.

True to the principle of VARIOKIT, the components can also be used to full capacity through the choice of the area of influence, with the aim of producing the most cost-effective solution.

PERI UP Flex Shoring

  • Height 21.89 m
  • Dimensions 25 cm and 50
From shoring towers to complex load-bearing birdcage structures, adaptable to suit almost all geometries and loads

Modular
Extremely flexible in all three dimensions through the uniform grid size

Dimensionally stable
Can be moved in large units by crane due to the high rigidity of the ledger connections

Compatible
Coordinated with PERI formwork systems for optimized transfer of loads

PERI UP Flex is the universal modular scaffolding for a wide range of tasks. It makes shoring assemblies with lightweight scaffold materials extremely cost-effective. The system grid dimensions of 25 cm and 50 cm allows optimum adaptation to different geometries and loads.

PERI UP shoring towers have been type-tested for heights of up to 21.89 m; up to two additional frames can be attached. As free-standing tower type tested up to 8.39 m, restrained at the top type tested up to a height of 21.89 m (22.34 m with spindle extension)
As shoring tower with additional frames or framework unit for high vertical andor horizontal loads
Project-specififc planning as load-bearing birdcage structure for virtually all geometries and loadsAssembly of the framework unit is based on shoring towers which are connected in one direction and thus function as shear frames. In direction of the framework, the system can be considered as a free standing system, thus additional braces for the transfer of horizontal loads are usually not necessary. A typical application is the building of bridges.

PERI UP Flex allows its complete variability to be showcased when creating three-dimensional shoring structures. Here, the positions of the legs can be adapted exactly to match the on-site load requirements. Very high load concentrations can be transferred just as easily as small area loads. Adjustments to very complicated geometrical shapes are realisable with standard materials with very little time and effort. The high rigidity of the ledger connections maintains the shape of even very large scaffolding units when being moved with the crane or by means of castors. Tension-proof connections are used to connect the standards to each other. Units can be pre-assembled on the ground and subsequently joined together to form large shoring scaffolds. Working platforms for formwork operations as well as access solutions can be integrated in the shoring through the installation of system decks and stairs.

With staircase units in the same direction or alternating staircase units, the Staircase Alu 64 serves as access to working areas or construction site operations at heights of up to 90 m. As a 4-leg tower with 64 cm widths and height grid arrangement of 2.00 m, it is ideally suited as site stair towers in front of facade scaffolding, e.g. PERI UP T 72 or T 104. Each working level can be reached without requiring any height adjustments.

Easily erected
The lightweight flights of stairs can be easily and quickly assembled

Extremely versatile in use
As a scaffold from the ground assembly for accessing higher-positioned working areas, as suspended scaffold for reaching lower positioned areas or as access from the building to climbing formwork

Simple to plan
Through the modular design principle with three units (Basic, Plus, Top), the required material can be quickly orderedStaircase units in the same direction or with alternating staircase units with 64 cm widths as access for site personnel
Permissible loads: 2.00 kNm for flights of stairs and decking or 2.00 kNm for the entire construction for a run of staircase and landing of 20 m
Fewer anchors
Ledgers are used as guardrails and they brace the tower, diagonals are not required
