Paraffin Wax

Only 2% of crude oil is converted into lubricating oils, and a small percent of that processed into wax products. Paraffin and Microcrystalline are separated from lubricating oils during vacuum distillation. Fully refined products may be filtered to remove color and odor.

When most people think of wax, in any form, the wax they generally think of is probably a paraffin wax. It is one of the most plentiful and multi-use waxes used today. A by-product of the crude oil refining process, in its raw form, it is a white, odorless, tasteless, "waxy" solid, with a typical melting point between about 110F to 150F, and while it's very inert, it burns really well.

Pretty much any type of candle can be made with paraffin wax. The melting point is the primary determinant of the type of candle you can make with it & Paraffin wax, classified as a chemical preservative, is widely used on fruits, vegetables, andcandy to make them shiny and pretty as well as to retard moisture loss and spoilage. Waxes are made from vegetable oils, palm oil derivatives, and synthetic resins, as well as other materials. Some people, notably those who are allergic to aspirin, may be sensitive to many waxes, depending on their ingredients.

  • Low melt point paraffin (less than 130F) is used forcontainer candlesin jars, cups or glasses

  • Medium melt point paraffin (130F - 150F) is used for candles that need to stand on their own -votives, pillarsand other molded candles

  • High melt point wax (greater than 150F) is used for more special applications likehurricane candle shells, over dippingand other special candle making applications.

Multi Grade Motor Oil

Multi Grade Motor Oil:

Multigrade oils are designed to provide a more consistent viscosity across a wide range of temperatures. They are usually formulated around premium quality base stock (mineral and/or synthetic blend) enhanced with an additive package.

Today's automobiles have very specific motor oil viscosity requirements set by the manufacturer. Many cars use 5W-30 motor oil, but what do those numbers really mean? The first number in our example is 5W, which specifies that the oil must behave like a 5 weight oil (very thin and light) in cold conditions. It should flow freely below freezing so it can quickly reach unprotected engine components even after sitting for extended periods in winter conditions

The second number, 30 in our example, specifies that the oil must lubricate and resist breakdown like a 30 weight motor oil, which is quite a bit heavier and more viscous than a 5 weight motor oil. This indicates that it should be able to withstand the punishment of summertime driving without failing to properly lubricate the engine.

And what about the "W"? The "W" signifies winter, and is leftover from the days when cars had to run lighter oil for winter driving. Today it's just used to indicate the low temperature performance characteristics of the motor oil.

Multi Grade Motor Oil Properties:

MGM Oils, unlike industrial oils, operate in a severe environment and must be developed with unique properties. The primary functions of motor oil are:

  • Lubricate engine moving parts to reduce friction and prevent wear.

  • Clear engine of contaminants.

  • Seal piston and liner for optimum engine efficiency.

  • Resist high temperature degradation.

  • Promote low temperature lubrication.

  • Lubricate over a wide temperature range.

Features / Advantages :

One oil for year-round use

Improved low-temperature starting

Excellent high-temperature performance

Improved overall fuel economy - less idling time and faster warm up

Less battery drain on cold starts

Faster, full-pressure lubrication over a wider temperature range

Conclusion :

Multigrade oils are the preferred option for all modern engines.

Multigrade oils will keep equipment operating in an optimum viscosity range, and offer consistent response and lubrication protection.

Monograde oils are an acceptable option if the equipment can provide excellent oil cooling and constant temperature control.
