Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside. The BCF201Z has two settings (high 1, 700 RPM, low 1, 200) for optimal air velocity control, with up to 3 hours of continuous run time in low speed with a fast-charging 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 3.0Ah battery (sold separately). It can also be powered by Makita 14.4 18V Lithium-Ion batteries, or an AC adapter. The 3-stage automatic timer offers 1, 2 and 4-hour power-off selection.
