Discovery heat detectors have a common profile with ionisation and optical smoke detectors but have a low air flow resistance case made of self-extinguishing white polycarbonate. For the European standard version of the detector, the five modes correspond to five classes as defined in EN 54-5. The classes in this standard correspond with different response behaviour, each of which is designed to be suitable for a range of application temperatures. All modes incorporate fixed temperature response, which is defined in the standard by the static response temperature.
The Flame Detector Bracket is an optional accessory for the Intelligent Flame Detectors. It is a stainless steel mounting bracket adjustable in two axis. Not suitable for Base Mounted Flame Detectors.

Key FeaturesAllows flame detector to be mounted in any orientation.
The Metal Deckhead Mounting Box gives extra protection to devices to be fitted in areas where there is the possibility of moisture or condensaton ingressing through the rear of the base. The new version is suitable for a wider range of detector bases as well as Apollo's AV bases.
Mechanical ConstructionThe Deckhead Mounting Box is used on its own in most cases but there are applications where either an extension sleeve or an adaptor ring is required. The Extension Sleeve is required when fitting heater or deep bases; the Adaptor Ring is needed for fitting sounder bases, beacon bases or sound beacon bases. Further details are given in the table below. The Extension Sleeve and the Adaptor Ring are sold as an Accessory Kit, part no 45681-218.The Deckhead Mounting Box has 6 cable access ports for M20 glands and is secured to the mounting surface via two 5.4mm holes in the webs.
Additional InformationFor more information refer to Installation Guide (39214-450) and Datasheets (PP2364, PP2040).
Safety NoteNOTES ON USE 1. Do not apply any sealing compound or use a gasket of any kind between the detector base and deckhead mounting box 2. Ensure that if a terminal block is fitted, it does not contact or foul the detector base 3. Ensure that the mounting surface is flat and Level 4. Seal unused cable access ports with suitable blanking plugs. Sealing compound may be used provided, that it does not, at any time, give off fumes or vapour which could affect any detector fitted to the base 5. The deckhead mounting box orientation should be such that the detector LED is facing the entrance to the protected area

Brand InformationXPander incorporates entirely new designs with respect to the wireless communication system. A Radio Interface is connected to the loop. It communicates with the control panel using the Apollo addressable two-wire power and communications system. The interface communicates with the detection and alarm signalling devices by means of radio waves. The detectors are multistate in that they report normal, pre-alarm, fire or fault states to the radio base which transmits the information to the interface. The detectors incorporate drift compensation and report any compensation limit occurring. The radio bases and signalling devices are addressable and use a pre-set analogue value to report via the XP95 or Discovery protocol. Apart from normal and fire the bases can send pre-set analogue values to indicate low battery, detector contaminated, detector tamper and low signal strength fault conditions.
Brand Featuresmodern styling loop-powered interface operating on 868MHz wireless addresses seen by control panel as normal addresses radio base with wireless circuitry and battery compartment chamber designed to inhibit dirt penetration and thus reduce false alarms automatic drift compensation with DirtAlert warning algorithms for transient alarm rejection FasTest reduces time taken to test detectors remote test facility 3-5 years battery life

The Visual Indicator Enclosure is weatherproof and allows Apollo's loop-powered visual indicator to be used in high moisture environments such as swimming pools and food processing areas where wash-down occurs. The enclosure is supplied with a mounting bracket to accept a Discovery or XP95 base.
Mechanical ConstructionThe enclosure comprises a grey polycarbonate box with metric knock-outs and a transparent polycarbonate lid. It is fitted to a wall or suitable stable back-ground by means of four screws (not supplied).
ApplicationThis weatherproof enclosure is designed for use with Apollo's loop-powered beacon. Please note that the enclosure is not supplied with a beacon. Loop-powered beacons, part no 55000-877, are ordered separately. The enclosure allows the beacon to be used in high-moisture environments such as swimming pools and food processing areas where wash down occurs. The enclosure can also be used outside. However, care should be taken to ensure that the beacon and its enclosure are not placed where there are high ambient light levels as this could mean that the beacon cannot be seen when it is operated. The enclosure is supplied with a mounting bracket to accept an XP95 or Discovery base. For more information on the Apollo Loop-powered Beacon, please refer to Apollo publication PP2156.

The Apollo Waterproof Manual Call Point has a highly visible alarm indicator which can be seen from up to 10 metres away. The manual call point interrupts the polling cycle for a fast response, when activated. A combined LED indicator and front reset mechanism allows for a simple reset.
Electrical DescriptionThe Waterproof Addressable Manual Call Point is loop powered and operates at 17-28V dc for all variants.
OperationThe address of each Manual Call Point is set at the commissioning stage by means of a seven-segment DIL switch. A red alarm LED is provided on the Manual Call Point. This LED is controlled independently of the Manual Call Point, by the fire control panel. Once activated, the Manual Call Point can be reset by inserting the reset key into the front facing LED, turning clockwise until a positive click and reset occurs. The isolated version of the Manual Call Point incorporates a short circuit isolator which will ensure its operation in the event of a short circuit fault on the loop. Isolator operation is indicated by a yellow LED. For further details of the isolator refer to datasheet PP2090, available on request.
Mechanical ConstructionThe component parts of the Manual Call Point are moulded in a robust fire retardant polycarbonate. Datasheet PP2454 / Figure 1 shows the mounting hole dimensions and the available cable entry glands and datasheet PP2454 / Figure 2 shows the overall dimensions.

Additional InformationIP rated installations Apollo recommends installing the Waterproof Manual Call Point using cable entry from the bottom of the MCP. It is important that correctly IP rated cable glands are used to ensure the IP rating of the device is not compromised. All cable glands and unused cable entry blanking plugs must be fully tightened and sealed to ensure the IP integrity is maintained. Use of PTFE or similar thread sealer is recommended.

OpenConnect Gateway fully integrates fire detection with building management systems (BMS), without the need for complex systems or the use of multiple customised interfaces. The OpenConnect Gateway is effectively a 'plug and play' device that can be incorporated into a fire control panel design, relaying information from the panel into the BMS using standard protocols such as BACnet, Modbus or LonWorks. This gives both system integrators and end users the advantage of utilising an intra-system communication architecture between both environments, while maintaining the integrity of each system independently. Through its Panel Partnership, Apollo has already worked closely with leading panel manufacturers to develop panel-to-BMS interfaces, and will continue to do so as future licensed partners come onboard and develop suitable connections to the gateway hardware.
