Sulphate-resisting cement is more resistant than ordinary portland cement to the action of mineralized water containing sulphates; it also has lower heat of hydration and slower hardening. Moderate and High-Sulphate-Resistant Cements are used in situations where concrete is exposed to soils high in sulphate content, for example slabs on the ground, pipe and concrete posts.

SRPC is used where groundwater and soils have a high sulphate content and when moderately low heat of hydration is needed
