With the new Grasso V reciprocating compressor series, GEA is heralding the start of a completely new era for the industrial refrigeration market. During the development of the GEA Grasso V series, GEA Grasso continually put itself in the position of the end user. Every component was assessed for the most important elements that contribute to a low Total Cost of Ownership like energy, maintenance and reliability with min. downtime. The result is not only the most effcient reciprocating compressor on the market but also a compressor with electronically controlled service intervals (extended as well as flexible) in order to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership without jeopardizing reliability. This new series replace the existing single stage series in a swept volume range from up to mh. Compound (two stage) compressors will become available in 2013. GEA Grasso 5HP seriesCO2 (Freezing)CO2 (Freezing) The 50 bar GEA Grasso 5HP compressor, developed for use in CO2 cascade freezing systems, is a well accepted and reliable appearance in the industrial refrigeration market. 4 single stage models from 3 up to 6 cylinders cover a wide range capacities. The extremely low volume ow in relation with the cooling capacity makes this series to a big performer. NH3 (Heat pump applications)A logic further development of the GEA Grasso 5HP series is the integration in NH3 heat pump systems. The 50 bar design makes it possible to condensate up to 82 C and as a result of that produce high level of water temperatures. Heat pump systems are developing very quick in various segments of industry (Dairy, slaugther-houses etc.) and contribute in reducing waste heat as well as CO 2 emissions.

The single-stage screw packages of the GEA Grasso SP1 series include 22 package sizes with a capacity range of 130 to 5, 700 kW. The GEA Grasso SH series comes in four sizes can cover swept volumes ranging from 231 to 372 m3h. The simple design is owed by the integration of the complete oil management system with only one oil connection and important package elements in the compressor. The screw compressors come equipped with connections for monitoring pressure and temperature, for position displays on the control screen, and for controlling the integrated solenoid valve assembly for combined Vi part load adjustment. The direct assignment of the solenoid valves to Vi and part load regulation and the connection of pressure and temperature sensors on the compressor ease assembly and service work on the package. The parallel slide system allows for Vi optimization and part load adaptation to take place simultaneously and independently of one another. It means that even in part load operations a low-loss work process is possible for the screw compressor. The GEA Grasso MC series comes in four sizes with a swept volume ranging from 471 to 860 m3h. They have a simple and compact design between the compressor and package, where some unit components may come already integrated such as a suction side non-return valve, suction filter, an oil pump along with an oil and hydraulic system with the appropriate solenoid valve assemblies for Vi and part load adjustment. The control lines for the solenoid valve for Vi part load controls are connected directly to the compressor.
