Founded in 2002, Nattiq Technologies realized the core problem of Arabic-speaking blind people in the Middle East. They have lost their privacy and independence in accessing computer and communication technologies. Forging strategic alliances with industry leaders, Nattiq was able to offer blind users in the Middle East with up-to-date powerful tools helping them have complete access to standard computers and telecommunication devices. Hal, a screen reader for PCs, and Talks, a screen reader for mobile phones, are by far the most popular programs which are widely used by blind Arabic-speaking blind users. By admission of most observers, Nattiq’s entry to the Middle East resulted in creating an industry which stands to expand at a substantial rate annually.
