Manila ropes are made from high and medium grade fibers. It is the strongest natural fiber rope. This cordage is durable, strong, and cost efficient. This rope provides low stretch and abrasion resistance. However, the construction of this rope makes it unsuitable for use in environments with chemicals. Industries that commonly utilize manila ropes include, general industrial, marine, shipping, oil, construction, and agriculture.

Poly-Dac rope is a type of cordage with a core of polyester over polypropylene. The combined properties that comprise the rope makes it almost twice as strong as manila rope. The rope has a high resistance to friction induced heat, chemicals, and rot. All of these qualities have made Poly-Dac rope very popular in the marine industry.
Polypropylene cordage is strong and long lasting. It is about twice as strong as manila rope. Benefits of polypropylene include constant strength even when wet, resistance to rot, mildew, abrasion, and UV. Also has a good strength and moderate stretch. This has made polypropylene a common rope for towing, marine, and rigging applications. This cordage is a reliable, cost efficient choice for consumer and commercial use

SSG supplies its own brand of Bash-P plate clamps for handling steel, along with other international reputed brands. Plate clamps are a rigging accessory that are normally suspended from a crane hook and attached to steel to facilitate lifting. Because there are a multitude of steel types, shapes, sizes, and weights, there is a wide variety of plate clamps to choose from. You need to determine all of these variables and select the plate lifting clamp that has the right capacity and grip range for the steel your handling. Also, you need to know what orientation the steel is positioned in at the beginning of the lift, and what orientation it needs to end up in at the end of the lift. This is important because some plate clamps lift vertically only, others in a 90 degree range motion, and others that can move plate 180 degrees.
Alloy chain slings are designed for overhead lifting and offer unmatched durability. They provide excellent performance in harsh environments. Grade 80 Alloy chain is the most common grade of chain used today, but grade 100 alloy chain are used where fine tolerance is desirable such as in overhead cranes and other such applications. Types of alloy chain slings include single, single choker, double branch, triple branch and quadruple branch. Welded and mechanically coupled products are designed and built for rugged lasting service. As with any quality product, certain precautions and standards of treatment should be observed. Proper care will extend the useful life of the chain sling. When selecting an alloy chain sling, you will need to choose the type of coupling you prefer. The two types are (W) welded and (M) mechanically coupled.
A turnbuckle, stretching screw or bottle screw is a device for adjusting the tension or length of ropes, tie rods, and other tensioning systems, normally consisting of two threaded eyelets, one screwed into each end of a small metal frame, one with a left-hand thread and the other with a right-hand thread. The tension can be adjusted by rotating the frame, which causes both eyelets to be screwed in or out simultaneously, without twisting the eyelets or attached cables. Turnbuckles are most commonly used in applications from structural elements in buildings to suspension bridges, which require a great deal of tension. We stock and supply a wide variety of turn buckle design and size options that fit client specific rigging needs. Turnbuckles come with a variety of end fittings some of which are detailed below: Deck Toggle - A “T” shaped bar sits inside a mounting bracket with holes on either side. This configuration allows the turnbuckle assemblies to rotate 180 degrees within the mounting bracket. This type of fitting is often used to attach to deck posts. Drop Pin - These turnbuckle tie downs have a rotating pin on the end that flips flat into the body of the pin to thread through a hole and then can be extended perpendicular to the body for a secure hold. This end fitting offers an excellent clean look. Eye - Solid loop end for wire rope turnbuckle with no vulnerable connection points to allow cable to slip through. Elongated eye version minimizes stress on the turnbuckle component. Fork or Jaw - Rigging turnbuckles with wishbone shaped anchor point fitted with a nut and bolt or pin and cotter turnbuckle assembly, this type of fitting is ideal for situations where the anchor point is fixed and will not work with an eye or the anchor point needs to be secured from slipping off the fitting. Hook - Stainless turnbuckle ending in an open hook. Hooked ends of the turnbuckle may open the same direction or in opposite directions depending on your rigging requirements. This fitting offers the quickest option for attachment and release. Lag Screw - The threaded screw end of these turnbuckles allow for permanent, secure attachment to your anchor points. Stub End - These rigging turnbuckles are used where a connecting point is not needed like most turnbuckle ends, but rather are used to separate or push apart objects. Swage Stud - Swage stud turn buckle fittings offer a solid corrosion resistant end point that is threaded to accept wires directly into the fitting and swaged to secure them permanently. Threaded Rod - Turnbuckle hardware end fitting with standard threads that easily form a direct connection to a post or other mounting surface.
Snatch blocks and wire rope pulleys are common lifting mechanisms used for rigging. Using a snatch block in a block and tackle application reduces the amount of force required to lift an abnormally heavy object. A pulley system is used in conjunction with wire rope or another type of rigging rope, by looping the rope through the pulley (around the sheave) several times before hooking to the object. The force required diminishes proportionately with the amount of pulleys or “loops” used during the hoist. We supply a wide range of rigging blocks and pulleys including snatch blocks, derrick hoists, wire rope pulleys, from a range of quality manufacturers. With so many different variations, sizes and weight limitations, it’s important to know what to look for when choosing a snatch block for the required application. Factors to keep in mind when choosing a snatch block include: The Working Load Limit (WLL) of both the snatch block and the wire rope. If the WLL of the snatch block is not compatible with the WLL of the rope, it can create a dangerous situation if either one should fail. The size of the sheave in the snatch block compared to the diameter of the wire rope. If the wire rope is too large for the sheave, the block can crack. Generally, the wire rope-to-sheave size ratio should be 12:1 in order to hold the wire securely whilst under load. A snatch block can reduce the direct pull load by half, choose a snatch block that has a rating of double the pull of the winch you will be using.

Lifting Beams Lifting beams are required when headroom is limited and restricts the operation of overhead rigging equipment. Without the added overhead rigging to absorb the stress from the load, lifting beams must be designed structurally larger than spreader bars. Lifting beams are typically made from a beam and have a single top lifting point with multiple bottom lift points. The bottom lift points enable the user to specify exact lengths when rigging on standard or precision lifts. Spreader Bar Safety Services Group fabricates numerous Spreader Bars for customers in accordance to their specific requirements. Spreader bars are normally made out of pipe and have top and bottom lifting points on opposing ends. They are suspended by a crane from two slings and normally have two to four bottom slings attached that are rigged to the load. Custom lifting devices like spreader bars are always in compression and are designed with varying pipe diameters and thicknesses to obtain the proper safety design factor to meet the rated capacity. Spreader bars are the best option for loads where the lift points are far apart or the gravity point is not centralised and load control is important. A swivel is a device that allows the connected object to rotate. Rigging hooks can come in many variations, which we have outlined below. Grab hook: Designed to “grab” to keep a chain from slipping off the hook. Slip hook: Generally has a wider throat than grab hooks and sometimes has a latch design to keep an attached object in its place. Clevis hook: Designed with a clevis and bolt or pin at the base to create a secure way to fasten the hook to a bracket or chain. Self-locking hook: When used within the working load limit guidelines, a self-locking design ensures the hook will not open when under heavy load.

Eye Bolts and Eye Nuts are also commonly known in the lifting industry as lifting eyes and are available in a wide range of metric and imperial sizes, as well as high tensile steel or stainless steel options. They vary in shape and size and include DIN standard eye bolts, Collar BS4278 Standard Eyebolts, Long Shank, Dynamo type and Eyebolts with built-in Oval Links. Chain slings are often selected when operating under high temperatures or rugged conditions that would abrade or destroy other types of slings. They are flexible, durable and long lasting, ductile, easy to inspect, collapsible for convenient storage, and will adhere securely to the contours of a load. Although chain will show little or no stretch at rated capacity, it does have the ability to elongate up to 20% prior to failure. This elongation serves as a visual warning sign prompting users to remove the sling from service before personal injury or equipment damage is sustained from a broken chain sling. The most advantageous feature of a chain sling is its ability to be repaired. Nearly any damaged component discovered during an inspection can be repaired and restored to useful condition. During the repair process, slings will be refurbished, proof tested and recertified, offering an economical alternative to new chain sling replacement. Chain slings used for overhead lifting applications must be manufactured from alloy steel. Alloy chain, normally 8600 series alloy, is subjected to quality control techniques surpassing those applied to lower grades of chain and is designed, approved and specifically recommended for overhead lifting. Alloy steel chains possess the strength, chemical content and mechanical properties necessary to meet government and industry standards. These specifications prescribe minimum elongation values, minimum proof test values, recommended working load limits and minimum statistical breaking strengths. Alloy chain can be distinguished from other popular grades of welded chain through its hallmark, or identification code, which is embossed into chain links approximately every 12” to 18”. Grade 80 (or System 8) is the most frequently used alloy chain. Do not use any chain sling for overhead lifting before verifying that it is constructed from alloy steel by inspecting the chain prior to use. A winch is a mechanical device that is used to wind up a rope or cable; it generally consists of a winch drum that is attached to a crank. Winches that are used in heavy lifting industries can have sophisticated gear assemblies that are powered by hydraulic, pneumatic or combustible engine drives. Some applications may need a winch that includes a mechanical brake or ratchet to prevent the rope from unwinding. The use of wire rope is widespread within the lifting and rigging industries worldwide. Each wire rope is constructed of several steel strands laid or twisted together similarly to a Helix, each strand consists of smaller wires laid together in a similar way. Every wire rope has three basic components, wires, strands and the core. The core may comprise of either Fibre (FC) such as sisal, manila or jute, or an Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC), which is actually a smaller wire rope within the strands of the outer wire rope. SSG lifting shackle category offers a very comprehensive online rage. Lifting Shackles are connection link, used to make a connection between the load lifting device (hoist hook / sling) and the load to be lifted. There are two main shapes / styles of lifting shackle and they are “D” Shackles (or Dee Shackle) and bow shackles otherwise known as Omega shackles. The shackles we offer are galvanized, self color and made from forged carbon steel. The load pin on a lifting shackle is fastened to the shackle body in different ways; there is screw pin where the pin screws into the body of the shackle like a bolt and safety pin shackles where the pin passes through the body of the shackle then is captivated by either a split pin or nut c/w split pin. We also offer a great range of stainless steel lifting shackles, ROV shackles, hydraulic remote release shackles and wide body shackles. Galvanized shackles offer added strength when needed but the chromium in a stainless steel shackle makes it ideal for marine applications. Chromium has the amazing ability to form a passive film on the surface of stainless steel that will resist the accelerating properties of corrosion. Chromium also has an ability to continually repair itself after the surface film is scratched, even in an oxidative environment. Our stainless steel anchor shackles are type 316 (the 2nd most common other than type 304) which has an alloy addition of molybdenum. This stainless alloy is also known as marine grade stainless mainly due to its chloride corrosion resistance.
