BRASION TESTS ON RUBBERS AND ELASTOMERS

Designed to determine the abrasion resistance of a specimen by controlling its change of volume after contacting an abrading surface along 40 meters and with a 10 N pressure.

Calibration of the system is provided by means of rubber standard specimens.

The various methods allows for the determination of the necessary energy to break a specimen having a known cross-section - then calculating its resilience value at a given conditions. The potential energy of the hammer is known and it varies depending on the hammers shape, weight and release angle. The absorbed energy to break the specimen can be determined after measuring the ascent angle of the hammer after the impact. The test methods to perform with this structure are Charpy, Izod and Tensile Impact. Differences among these test methods are related to the way the specimen is mounted and how it is impacted.

Durometer and IRHD (International Rubber Hardness Degree) are based on international standards for the hardness measurement of rubber, plastics and other non-metallic materials (ISO, ASTM, DIN, BS, NFT etc.).

MICRO IRHD HARDNESSis for samples with a thickness ranging from 1 to 5 mm. It complies with ISO 48 standard.

MACRO IRHD N, H, L/ DUROMETER HARDNESS SYSTEM

The patented IRHD N, H, L / Durometer Hardness System provides hardness readings on elastomers and plastics with a specimen thicker than 6 mm according to IRHD and Durometer hardness.It complies to international standards such as DIN ISO 48, ISO 48 and ASTM D 1415.
