The sapwood is white and may contain brown streaks while the heartwood may be pale to light brown. It is a diffuse porous timber with a coarse texture. The wood is generally straight grained and contains relatively few defects. As a true poplar cottonwood has similar characteristics and properties to American aspen and European poplar.

From Export R List Clears in #2 Clear, #3 Clear and #4 Clear to specialty timbers in grades from Select Structural FOHC to #3. We also provide appearance grade timbers for custom homes as well as special industrial grades such as tank stock, scaffold plank, crossarms and shop grades. Run to pattern stock such as T&G flooring and beaded ceiling are also available in both vertical grain and flat grain.
