Flame lamination involves passing polyurethane foam through a controlled flame changing the surface of the foam to a molten state. Another substrate (textile or Rexene) is then brought into direct contact with the molten foam under controlled tension and pressure.

Flame retardants are compounds added to Foam to inhibit, suppress, or delay the production of flames to prevent the spread of fire. The market for flame retardant foam in furniture and mattresses is increasing due to rising safety standards worldwide.

Convoluted foam also is known as the Egg crate or acoustic foam. The distinctive cone shape provides four times more absorptive surface area than flat foam. And, it deflects and entraps sound waves within the material making this very acoustically efficient foam. It is usually used in mattresses as padding .

Rebonded foams are recycled polyurethane foam products. They are prepared by using the residue foam produced during the processing of slab stocks with a dedicated technology. Regarding their properties their flexibility is lower, hardness and bulk density is higher than that of other polyurethane foam types.
